Chava Muchnik, PhD, is a Professor of Communication Disorders at the Department of Communication Disorder at Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. Her PhD research focused on the influence of emotional stress on cochlear activity in an animal model. During the years her main research interests include neuro-biologic processes underlying speech recognition in challenging listening situations such as background noise as manifested in electrophysiological and behavioral measures; and electrophysiological indices of electric stimulation in cochlear implant recipients.  Prof. Muchnik held the position of head of the Department of Communication Disorders at Tel Aviv University for ten years. She serves as a member in numerous committees at the Department of Communication Disorders as well as in the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. She also serves as a member and as Chair of committees of the Israeli Council for Higher Education, Planning and Budgeting.  Prof. Muchnik is a senior clinician and a leading member of the cochlear implant team at the Hearing, Speech, & Language Center at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.
